DARMSTADT, Germany: Software specialist exocad has announced that the new DentalCAD 2.4 Plovdiv software version is now available worldwide. The software features an enhanced FullDenture module, which helps facilitate the design of removable single-arch dentures in a guided digital workflow. It also allows mapping of a wide range of digital complete denture production methods, from printing to milling and ready-made or individually designed teeth.

With this software release, exocad provides dental technicians with a tool that will allow them to gradually prepare their laboratories for the digital fabrication of complete dentures. All exocad users with an upgrade contract can download the release immediately. The FullDenture module is available as an add-on module to DentalCAD and as a stand-alone version.

“Plovdiv is the second major release of DentalCAD in the last year. This release contains 64 new features and 45 extended functions that make our software even more attractive for every dental technician. This time, the focus of our innovation is on removable dentures and advanced implant-supported bridges,” said exocad CEO Tillmann Steinbrecher.

According to the company, new users especially will benefit from the tried-and-tested exocad wizard feature that guides the user step by step through the FullDenture module. The expert mode, however, will give experienced users maximum flexibility with regard to design. Additionally, the prosthetic tooth library has been expanded and now includes well-known manufacturers such as VITA, Dentsply Sirona and Ruthinium. With selected libraries, it is even possible to scale and modify existing shapes, allowing users to manufacture their own denture teeth in a variety of production methods. Additionally, significantly extended libraries for attachments are now available.

With DentalCAD 2.4 Plovdiv, dental technicians are now offered an optimised workflow for creating implant-borne thimble bridges without rescanning the substructure.  In addition, new parameters are now available in the Model Creator, which allow dynamic adjustment of the offset around the model analogues. DentalCAD can also be seamlessly combined with PartialCAD to enable virtual gingiva-borne bridges on top of a partial framework design, thus supporting the highly automated production of removable prostheses. Further, the PartialCAD module has been significantly improved for the Plovdiv release and now features extended control and new options to meet individual preferences, along with usability improvements and additional tools for customised shapes of posts. Furthermore, users can now benefit from advanced dedicated workflows to design offset structures on scanned bars, jaw motion and a virtual articulator, as well as a module-extended selection of exocad-approved prosthetic component libraries, including over 52,000 components.

More information about the new software is available on the exocad website.
